Worksite Assessments
A Workplace Assessment is conducted by trained professionals to gain a detailed understanding of the physical and environmental demand of the worker’s duties as well as identify duties that are safe for the worker to perform whilst recovering from an injury.
It involves discussions with the worker and employer to gain an overview of the duties to be assessed, reviewing and assessing the duties (which can include taking measurements of heights, weights and forces required), analyzing the worker’s manual handling techniques and providing immediate advice and training in appropriate techniques and recommending workplace modifications.
It also includes;
- Risk Assessment: identification of the risks that are present for the injured worker
- Barrier minimization: mitigation of yellow and blue flags hindering achievement of RTW goal.
- Identification of suitable duties based upon the workers functional and medical capacity.
- Education of line managers in the effective management of a Worker’s RTW, minimising potential conflict and barriers to a timely return to work.
- Development of return to work plan including timeframes, graded increase of hours/duties and documentation of restrictions and recommendations to safe progression
Outcome
- Supports a timely return-to-work process and reduces company costs.
- Improves communication between employer and employee through a co-ordinated and mediated approach.
- Monitors, supports and guides the return-to-work process.
- Identifies barriers and provides clear strategies for managing a smooth return-to-work process.
- Enables the development of an agreeable return to work plan that matches the employees functional capacity.
